Creating Solutions, Changing Lives.

Our mission is to provide quality services and support to enable children and adults with disabilities to reach their maximum independence.

Our Services

  • Easterseals child care program, for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, implements developmentally appropriate practices & activities daily.  The therapeutic program follows a curriculum based on learning through play and child-directed creative experiences. Within a month of a participant’s enrollment, an assessment is conducted and goals are developed. Our teachers work on these goals through daily activities in the classroom, playground and cafeteria.  These skills are fostered through daily repetition of activities targeting fine motor, gross motor, adaptive skills, cognitive and social/communication skills.

  • School-aged children (6 to 22 years old) are engaged in developmentally appropriate activities after school, during the summer & during other school holidays/ breaks.  Development of adaptive/life skills is an essential focus of this program.  A plan of care is developed in alignment with the Individual Education Plan. Goals are identified and worked on through activities that foster independence in the following areas: safety skills (recognizing their basic information and emergency information), social skills (communicating with peers and respecting personal boundaries) and the development of independent personal care and toileting skills.

  • At Easterseals West Georgia, our comprehensive therapeutic care program for adults with disabilities (over 18 years of age) offers full adult day services and afterschool care for adults still attending school. The focus of the adult program is to incorporate adaptive living skills and socialization into the participant’s daily lives.

    The adult program:

    • Is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

    • Strives to improve the participant’s physical well-being, cognitive skills, social skills and level of independence.

    • Offers participants the opportunity to join interest group activities and outings (gardening club, sign language club, men’s club, photography club, Handmade by Me craft club, and more)

    • Has small ratio groups and activities based on the individual’s abilities and needs.

    • Ensures that all Life Skill Coaches receive relevant training in caring for adults with disabilities.

    • Has a nurse to administer medications, train staff on health related issues and oversee general health.

  • Human Performance Rehabilitation Centers, Inc. provides Occupational, Physical, & Speech pediatric therapy at Easterseals West Georgia’s facility to children in the community and within our center.  Therapists consult with our teachers on therapy goals and are a resource to effectively incorporate therapeutic activities into the child's day.  Our therapeutic goals and activities coupled with the therapies provide a well-rounded program for children with disabilities.

  • Georgia's Pre-K Program is a lottery funded educational initiative for four-year-old’s, aimed at preparing them for Kindergarten. Offerings include a full-day program (8:00 am to 2:30 pm), academic and social enrichment, parent/family engagement, free meals, field trips, and optional fee-based before and afterschool care.

  • Our Community Access Individual Program provides opportunities for adult participants to learn about and navigate their community, with the assistance of a 1 to 1 peer support staff. Individuals participate in outings designed to develop and improve life skills, while also building social connections and relationships. Self-sufficiency is fostered as individuals learn to socialize with others, adjust to community life, use community resources, handle personal care while in the community and build greater independence away from their support system.

Community opportunities may include learning about money management, joining community civic groups or clubs, and/or volunteering. This program is offered to individuals participating in Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities home and community based services.

  • Easterseals’ Family Support Program provides service coordination to assist families with accessing specialized supplies and equipment.

Supplies may consist of food supplements, briefs, protective bed chucks, wipes, and other supplies. This program also assists with payment for doctor's visits, therapies, and assistive technology.

The Family Support Program assists qualifying families of children and adults with disabilities.

  • Easterseals West Georgia's Structured Family Caregiver (SFC) program provides support, education, and health coaching to CCSP and Source waiver members whose family caregiver lives in the home with the member.

ESWG's health coaches provide support, resources, professional oversight and financial stipends. These services are provided to support and enable caregivers to continue providing quality care to their loved one in the home.
